About the Job
My client is a successful E-commerce brand currently looking for 12 months maternity cover Assistant Gift Buyer (Reatil, E-commerce, Gifts).
The Assistant Buyer reports to our Head of Gifts, and will be responsible for managing the personalised gifting product lines as well as some new non personalised product ranges. The buying team is relatively small (team of 5 including this role) but are responsible for contributing a significant revenue % to the overall business performance. To launch new personalised products requires working with IT, production, supply chain along with other business units, therefore it is important that this person has strong project management skills and communication skills.
Support the Head of Gifts in all stages of range planning.
Undertake competitor shopping & trend analysis.
Sourcing new products/suppliers, ensuring that they & product are fit for purpose.
Ensure quality of product is as agreed with suppliers.
Maintaining and managing critical path for new & existing personalised products.
Manages the launch of new ranges on the website, updating the merchandising team, content manager, and CS on all key product changes.
Communicates merchandising plan to suppliers.
Tracks website changes and sell outs to review in trade.
Input all data for weekly sales review.
Review sales performance weekly at trade meeting.
Review competitor activity and communicate within team.
Assist Head of Gifts in communicating product knowledge to the rest if the business.
Attend range review meetings with suppliers.
Identify potential new suppliers.
Manage product entry within the database.
Ensure all product descriptions and images are accurate and updated.
Communicate key trade messages and promotions to the business.
Negotiate with suppliers for marketing support.
Ensure samples are available for marketing purposes.
Ensure accuracy of product content/prices.
Inform marketing & CS of new product opportunities/launches/offers.
Raise PO's on time and adhering to supplier lead times.
Manage company purchased stock held at suppliers.
Work with supply chain to ensure all lines are delivered to the warehouse on time.
Working with Product and IT to understand and build requirements to launch new personalised product
Support effective communication at all levels both internally and externally.
Participate in regular team meetings to review product performance and agree team priorities and any changes to plan.
Key contact for the department for the Customer Service Team.
Brief design team on development of in house components
Liaise with In house creative/graphic team in advance of new range launches and offers
Communicate product & marketing updates to content planner
Industry trend analysis
Brief suppliers on trends for product development.
Undertake creative competitor shopping.
Support Head of Gifts to build an effective and motivational team environment.
Deputise for Head of Gifts as required.
Participate in training and development activities.
Communicate ideas and new initiatives within team.
Team player - needs to be prepared to carry out other duties that will benefit other areas of the business.
