Mobile Project Manager ( Agriculture / VAS / Mobile )

A Mobile Project Manager ( Agriculture / VAS / Mobile ) is required to join a global mobile organisation who operate in over 200 countries.

The programme at hand catalyses scalable, commercial mobile services that improve the productivity and incomes of smallholder farmers and benefit the agriculture sector in emerging markets. Working with mobile operators, the development community and agricultural organisations to enhance the livelihoods of smallholder farmers.

The Role

The role of Mobile Project Manager ( Agriculture / VAS / Mobile ) is to support the Programme Director in driving the programme to meet its objectives and ensuring success of all workstreams within the programme, ensure effective and efficient communication and collaboration within the team.

Main responsibilities

* Lead the project planning for the Team to successfully deliver on programme commitments.
* Ensure the programme has in place and is following professionally correct project processes to support delivery. Ensure that the projects are delivered to time, quality and budget.
* Manage budget and financial forecasting for the programme workstreams.
* Raise and track purchase orders, lead RFPs and procurement process, liaise with internal legal and financial teams.
* Optimise and own shared tools, templates, trackers, contact databases, document repositories for effective team collaboration and knowledge sharing.
* Manage internal and external reporting on programme and individual projects progress.
* Track subcontractors budgets, timely delivery and reporting.
* Events management for regular working groups: own logistics and operations, venue set-up, drive and own agenda, lead communication with speakers and attendees.
* Support individual team members by identifying projects' priorities, risks, dependencies, opportunities and proactively searching for optimal mitigation strategy or a specific solution.

Criteria for Selection

* Operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to set-up and manage operational processes for project delivery. Proven ability to manage suppliers and contractors is a must.
* Presentation and communication. Presentation to senior management, external stakeholders including donors, and may be publically available for the industry. They will have the ability to get consistent internal and external buy-in for their work. Absolute proficiency in written and verbal English is required.
* Consultative and collaborative approach. The candidate will be a strong and engaging listener driven to understand the views, needs and challenges of a wide spectrum of audiences - from small-scale rural farmer to senior management of mobile telco. They will be able to see the value and the gaps in the team's existing resources. The candidate will be a proactive facilitator for team collaboration.
* Global outlook. Telecom industry experience, experience in agriculture and international development is a strong advantage. The candidate must be comfortable working with a diversity of cultures and backgrounds.
